Marble sealers - how they work
How does the CTS Chemistry marble sealer work? It is made from resins in a dearomatised organic solvent. As a result, it penetrates deep into the substrate, forming a durable protective layer. It provides excellent protection against the penetration of substances such as:
- grease;
- sugar solutions;
- oil;
- dirt and dust.
At the same time, the marble becomes more resistant to cleaning agents with a pH of 5-9, UV radiation and acid rain, as well as to the growth of mould and moss.
Sealing marble - step by step
How is marble sealed? Before applying the product, clean the surface thoroughly and then dry it. Only a slightly damp surface is acceptable. Next, fill any defects and protect all objects and finishes adjacent to the application area. Apply the sealer in strips, working towards the exit of the room. A roller is best for this, making sure the layer of product is about 1 mm thick. After 45 minutes, remove the excess sealer with a soft cloth and then buff the entire surface.
It is very important to take all precautions when applying the product, such as wearing protective gloves and goggles. Do not smoke, eat or drink alcohol in the room during the entire process.
